The second annual Tour de Terrace BBQ Competition and Chili Cookoff is Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26 at the Evergreen Playfield Complex, 22205 56th Ave. W.
This is a major BBQ cooking competition sanctioned by and subject to the rules of the Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association (PNWBA). Included in the festivities is the Tour de Terrace Chili Competition, sanctioned by the Chili Association Society International, Inc. (CASI). $5,000 in prize money is available for competitors.
This is an open competition where all contestants will be using their culinary talents to vie for cash prizes and awards for the BBQ competition including ribs, chicken, brisket and pork and the Homestyle Chili competition.
Teams and judges come from the entire Pacific Northwest including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, and Canada.
“The Grand Champion” of the Tour de Terrace BBQ Championship is entitled to enter into the draw for the Jack Daniels Invitational, entry to the American Royal BBQ, as well other events throughout the country.
The Mountlake Terrace Friends of the Arts will be selling sampling tickets for the barbecue event for $1 per ticket for chicken, brisket and pork and $2 per ticket for ribs. Tickets will be for sale on the soccer field Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the chili cook-off and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the barbecue event.
