While the indoor pool at the Mountlake Terrace Recreation Pavilion is enjoyed by young people year-round, the opportunities to swim at a public outdoor pool are more limited. Edmonds boosts an outdoor pool at Yost Park, and youth in military families are invited to swim there this summer for free.
OMF Cares, the non-profit branch of Operation Military Family, is partnering with Swedish/Edmonds Hospital and the Verdant Health Commission to purchase summer swim passes for local military youth ages 17 and younger. Each organization donated $1,000 for the 11-punch passes.
Eligible military youth wishing to obtain a swim pass should contact Nicholas McCallon at OMF Cares by calling 1-877-516-8323, ext. 109, or by emailing NMcCallon@operationmilitaryfamily.com.
Yost Pool is located at 9535 Bowdoin Way in Edmonds and is open daily through Sept. 2. You can find more information on Yost Pool here.
