Worker killed under West Seattle Bridge identified as Mountlake Terrace man

A construction worker who was fatally injured below the West Seattle Bridge on Friday has been identified as 40-year-old Rafe Rasmussen from Mountlake Terrace.

Our online news partner The Seattle Times reported Sunday that Rasmussen was one of two men thrown from a bucket of an elevated boom lift under a westbound exit ramp when a box truck struck the lift just before 8 a.m. Friday.

He fell about 50 feet to a roadway below the bridge deck, Seattle police said. He died at Harborview Medical Center.

The other worker, a 57-year-old man, fell about 15 feet; he was in satisfactory condition after undergoing surgery Friday, the hospital said.
