Work is continuing this month on a new sidewalk being installed along two blocks of 227th Street Southwest in Mountlake Terrace, thanks in part to a grant from Snohomish County.

Crews from Civil Construction Services Inc. of Lynden began construction in January of a sidewalk complete with curbs, gutters, ADA ramps and a planter strip after being awarded the contract for the work in December 2015.

The $198,863 project is being paid for in part by a county Community Development Block Grant of up to $171,462. The remaining costs will be met by the city’s Stormwater and Street Construction Fund.

The new sidewalk will run on the south side of 227th Street Southwest between 56th Avenue West and 58th Avenue West. Construction is expected to be completed in late March.
