The Oak Harbor Wildcats scored early and often as they roughed up the visiting Mountlake Terrace Hawks 10-2 on Friday.
The Hawks couldn’t muster much offense of their own, collecting just seven singles and no walks against Wildcat winning pitcher Grant Schroeder. Terrace’s starting pitcher Drew Serres picked up the loss.
Mountlake Terrace (1-1 in Wesco league play, 3-2 overall) will see its next action on Tuesday, March 26, when they start a three-game series against the Glacier Peak Grizzlies. Game one will be at Mountlake Terrace High School starting at 4 p.m. The series continues on Wednesday at Glacier Peak, then returns to Terrace for a game on Friday.
Terrace Coach Andrew Watters is excited about the three-game match-up against the Grizzlies, and later in the season against the other 3A Wesco South foes.
“We used to do it years ago, but the coaches were unanimous about doing it again. It’s really fun,” Watters said. “It’s a situation in baseball where you see a team all week and we’re going to see all of their pitching staff and they’re going to see all of our pitching staff. It’s actually really exciting high school baseball. I’m looking forward to it.”
Tuesday’s first game in the series will be broadcast live on the Hawk Live Sports Network on MLTnews.com.
