Mountlake Terrace High School seniors Kayla Wheeler and Matt Jenson have been selected to appear on the June Athlete Highlights poster displayed at area businesses and organizations.
Wheeler is a member of the Terrace robotics team, a Paralympics swimmer and recipient of a MTHS letterman’s jacket presented by the Sports Booster Club. She has also been selected to speak at the MTHS Class of 2014 commencement on June 12.
“Kayla has been a powerful force in the leadership and management of FIRST Robotic’s Team 1778: CHILLOUT,” said MTHS technology instructor James Wilson. “She found her place as a team captain, leading project management, and will be back next year as a mentor. Kayla’s focus, confidence and intelligence as a leader has created a model for future leaders to follow in her wake.”
Jenson was a four-year letterman-qualified member of the Terrace boys golf team, serving as team captain for the past two season. MTHS golf coach Tom Gorney called Jenson a “great student athlete,” who during his senior year was “number one player on the team, team captain, first team All-Wesco, second place in the 3A Wesco tournament, fourth place in the district tournament and a State participant.”
The MTHS Athlete Highlights posters are a publication of the school’s Sports Booster Club.
