Waste Management recycle and yard waste drivers went on strike Wednesday, and the City of Mountlake Terrace posted the following on their Facebook page:
“Waste Management has notified the city that Teamsters Local 117 recycle and yard waste drivers went on strike today. They are unsure if Teamsters Local 174 garbage drivers will strike as well.
WM asks you to please keep any uncollected cans out until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 to aid in collection.
In the event Waste Management (WM) drivers do not return to work July 26, WM will begin implementing its contingency plan. Initially, service will focus on critical stops associated with public health, such as hospitals, nursing homes, day care centers, etc. For commercial and residential accounts, WM will pick up extra recycling and/or food and yard waste on your next scheduled service day at no additional charge (similar to inclement weather disruptions).
We will update this information for residential and commercial customers as we learn more and you can check WM’s website at www.wmnorthwest.com.”
