The weather wasn’t the only thing heating up the artificial turf at Edmonds Stadium Friday night; both offenses were red hot as the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors outscored Mountlake Terrace 48-29, handing the Hawks their second loss of the season.
Both teams combined for 852 total yards in the high-scoring matchup. The Warriors converted 24 first downs and never punted in the game, scoring touchdowns on seven of their nine possessions.
The Hawk offense had a good night too, with 388 total yards, 18 first downs, converting seven of nine third down attempts and one-for-one on fourth down attempts. But the team just couldn’t keep up with the high-flying Warrior attack.
Senior quarterback Beau Kennedy had a great night passing the ball for Mountlake Terrace, completing 13 of 17 attempts for 212 yards and one touchdown. Junior Devante Downs had his second consecutive 100-yard rushing game, carrying the ball 20 times for 106 yards and one touchdown.
Senior Chris Guererro rushed for two Hawk scores in the second half with runs of one and 17 yards.
