Want to be on the MLT City Council? Application deadline is Monday

The deadline to apply for the Mountlake Terrace City Council position left vacant by the resignation of Michelle Robles is 3 p.m. next Monday, Aug. 13.

Potential candidates must be at least 18 years of age, a United States citizen without any felony convictions, and a registered voter who has lived in Mountlake Terrace for at least one year prior to appointment.

Applications for this City Council vacancy are available on the home page of the city website or at the interim City Hall located at 6100 219th St. S.W., Suite 200. Completed applications must be received in person or via email or mail by 3 p.m. Monday.

Interviews will be conducted during a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14. The City Council plans to appoint the new councilmember following these interviews and the new member will be sworn in at the Aug. 20 regular meeting.

The appointment term runs until the November 2013 election is certified; the appointee would run for election in November 2013 if wanted to continue to serve for the remainder of the four-year term — through Dec. 31, 2015.
