Residents affected by recent flooding may obtain vouchers for disposal of water-damaged household goods free of charge at Snohomish County solid-waste facilities. The program begins Thursday, December 16 and ends Wednesday, April 13, 2011.
Disposal fees will be waived for flood-damaged residential waste at the county’s transfer stations in Mountlake Terrace, Everett and Arlington.
Residents need to obtain a voucher before taking flood waste to the transfer station. The Red Cross and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office are distributing vouchers at locations in Snohomish County including the South County Sheriff’s Precinct at 15928 Mill Creek Boulevard.
Items accepted for free include household furnishings, furniture, spoiled food, carpeting, water-soaked plasterboard, and appliances (except refrigerators/freezers).
For more information about the free flood waste disposal, please call the Snohomish County Solid Waste Division at (425) 388-3425 or go to snoco.org/solidwaste.
