Volunteers Needed for Input on Parks

The city is recruiting interested citizens to fill vacancies on the Neighborhood Parks Improvement Subcommittee (NPIS) for Evergreen Play Area located at 22205 56th Avenue West and Terrace Creek Park located at 23200 48th Avenue West.

The Neighborhood Parks Improvement Subcommittee gives 10 citizen volunteers the responsibility for conducting an annual inventory of the neighborhood parks and recommending improvements to the Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission (RPAC). Appointed by RPAC, NPIS representatives must live within a half mile of the park they represent. Volunteer members serve three-year staggered terms. The subcommittee meets in the evenings 6 to 8 times annually, with one meeting consisting of a tour of all neighborhood parks.

Members find the experience fun and rewarding by meeting other residents with similar interests, learning about the recreation and parks in the city, and helping shape the future of their neighborhood parks in Mountlake Terrace.

For more information about the open positions, please contact the Parks and Facilities Superintendent Ken Courtmanch at (425) 776-1811 or kcourtmanch@ci.mlt.wa.us. Visit the city’s website for more details at cityofmlt.com.
