Volunteers Needed For Boards and Commissions

The City of Mountlake Terrace is looking for a couple dedicated volunteers to serve on boards and commissions:

Due to recent resignations, the city has two interim vacancies on its boards and commissions, a Planning Commission term that expires on June 30, 2011 and a Library Board term that expires on June 30, 2012. The Planning Commission meets the second and fourth Mondays at 7:00 PM and the Library Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5:30 PM. Interested parties should contact the City Clerk at volsen@ci.mlt.wa.us or call (425) 744-6206.

Applicants for the Planning Commission must be residents of the city, able to meet twice a month, and have an interest in reviewing development proposals, revisions to the city’s Comprehensive Plan and development code. The Library Board position is open to residents who are interested in the general supervision of library facilities in Mountlake Terrace. The Library Board usually meets once per month.

Serving on a volunteer board or commission provides an excellent opportunity to get involved in your community and learn about city government.

The recruitment to fill current vacancies will close Monday, November 1 at 5:00 p.m. and appointments are tentatively scheduled for the December 6 Council meeting. A City Council Subcommittee, comprised of the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem, will review the applications and may contact interested parties for interviews. For more information on the city’s boards and commissions or to get an application, please contact Virginia Olsen, City Clerk/Community Relations Director, at (425) 744-6206or volsen@ci.mlt.wa.us.

More information and applications are available on the city’s website at www.cityofmlt.com/. Go to City Services/ Advisory Boards and Commissions. Applications may also be picked up at City Hall.
