How you can help the victims of the Lynnview Apartment fire

If you missed the previous news, there was a large apartment fire in an apartment complex in Lynnwood on Monday and 35 families have been displaced. The apartment complex is only about a mile north of the MLT limits so smoke could be seen from many parts of Mountlake Terrace.

The now homeless families are staying at Trinity Lutheran Church at 6215 196th Street SW until they can find more permanent housing.

The Red Cross is accepting clothing donations at The Family Center of Lynnwood at 6330 195th Street SW. They’re also providing food, medicine, and money for clothing and other necessities. Please take donations of clothes and household items to the Family Center and not to the church. Furniture donations will be accepted as soon as they can find a place to store them, we will keep you updated.

Financial donations will be used for immediate and long-term needs for the families. They can be sent directly to the Snohomish County Red Cross (2530 Lombard Avenue in Everett) or you can donate online.

Mountlake Terrace’s the Red Onion will be providing lunch for the families at the church tomorrow as well as donating 50% of all their receipts on Monday and Tuesday, August 16 and 17, to help the families get back on their feet.

See LynnwoodToday.com for more coverage of the fire and it’s aftermath.

  1. So awesome to see our community help out these families that are so in need right now. If you can, please consider helping out with a financial donation. The church is not currently taking any household or clothing items, though. (I tried to drop off some things today.)

  2. Any updates on furniture donations / where I can drop off? I have some items I want to donate to the fire victims. Thanks.
