Sound Transit is closing the Veterans Memorial Park Trail access point to the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center on Saturday, Nov. 9 to safeguard passage of pedestrians during construction of the Mountlake Terrace Light Rail Station the City of Mountlake Terrace says.
The transit center surface parking lot closed Oct. 19, and after Nov. 9, safe pathways through the parking lot will not be possible, due to light rail station construction. The trail will remain open, but access to the transit center will be blocked off.
Pedestrian detour routes include heading south to 236th Street Southwest; traveling south on 58th Avenue West, then crossing to the south side of 236th Street Southwest, and traveling west on 236th Street Southwest to the crosswalk to the transit center.
You can also head north to the Interim Park & Ride (former site of Roger’s Market Place at the corner of 232nd Street Southwest and 56th Avenue West). Travel north to 58th Avenue West, then cross to the north side of 232nd Street Southwest and travel east on 232nd Street Southwest to the crosswalk to Interim Park & Ride and catch bus connections to the transit center.
The interim parking lot will be in use for 12 to 18 months, while a new surface parking lot and bus loop are constructed adjacent to the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center at 59th Place West.
