Verdant hosts ‘What If My Teen Smokes Marijuana’ program on Feb. 23

verdantThe Verdant Health Commission hosts a program for parents called What If My Teen Smokes Marijuana on Feb. 23 at the Verdant Community Wellness Center in Lynnwood.

The program for parents interested in talking to their teenagers about marijuana and will feature guest speaker Lara Okokoko, MSW, a family therapist specializing in the ways that problematic substance use stresses the family.

Okokoko will answer common questions including, “Is marijuana addictive?” and “What do I do if I know that they have already experimented with marijuana or alcohol?”  as well as take questions from attendees.

Parents will leave with a better understanding of the new marijuana laws and ideas about how to talk to their kids about marijuana and alcohol use without using scare tactics and nagging. Parents are the biggest influence on their kids’ decisions to not use drugs and alcohol. Are you using that influence as best you can?
