Verdant Health Commission recognizes community volunteers, organizations for outstanding work

The Verdant Health Commission issued four awards to community members and organizations at the recent Verdant Healthier Community Conference.
The awards are:
· Outstanding Community Advocate Award, Bill Keppler and Steve Pennington, in recognition of their leadership and service for the Edmonds Community College Foundation’s Boots to Books and Beyond Campaign
· Innovative Program Award, Edmonds School District’s Move 60! Recess Remodel
· Service to Our Community Award, Bob Crabtree, Don Chriscaden, Carol Hammon, Sam Rector & Mary Beth Walsh, volunteers with the Road Back to Life Foundation, supporting the Puget Sound Kidney Centers Foundation programming
· Community Collaboration Award, Snohomish County Fire District 1 and the City of Lynnwood Fire Department for the Community Paramedic Program
“Since 2011, we’ve seen impressive ideas come to life through the hard work and dedication of so many,” said Carl Zapora, superintendent of the Verdant Health Commission. “This work has not gone unnoticed by Verdant, and we wanted to take this opportunity to recognize the dedication to our community.”
The Feb. 29 Verdant Healthier Community Conference drew approximately 300 people.
