Vehicle collision Monday night leads to capture of MLT robbery suspect

MLT police shieldMountlake Terrace police investigating a vehicle collision Monday night identified the driver as the same man wanted in an MLT convenience store robbery last week. The suspect has been booked into Snohomish County Jail.

Police believe he is the same man who robbed a convenience store in the 24300 block of 56th Avenue West last Friday morning, Nov. 5. The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s possessing a firearm.

According to Mountlake Terrace police spokesman Commander Kevin Pickard, when the police arrived following Friday’s robbery, they discovered that prior to the suspect fleeing the scene, he discharged a firearm at the store clerk. Further investigation revealed that it was actually an air soft gun, and the store clerk was not injured.

On Monday at about11:53 p.m., police responded to a vehicle collision in the 23400 block of 48th Avenue West. “When officers arrived, they immediately located the subject involved and arrested him for driving under the influence in addition to outstanding warrants,” Pickard said. “The officers soon recognized the suspect in custody as their robbery suspect from Nov. 5.”
