Senior Claire Zucker and junior Jeremy Ansdell are the featured Mountlake Terrace Hawks student athletes this month on the MTHS Sports Booster Club Athlete Highlights posters on display around the area.

Zucker was selected for the honor by MTHS Girls Soccer Coach Evan Hatch. “Claire is our team captain the only senior player on our roster,” Hatch said. “She provides a mature leadership style on the field and cares greatly for the success of the program.”

“Claire worked tirelessly in the offseason to have a high level of fitness needed to play central midfield and avoid injury,” Hatch continued. “She sets a good hard-working example for the younger players in the program and we will miss her greatly next season.”

Ansdell was picked out for the Athlete Highlights poster by MTHS Tennis Coach Alberto Ramirez, noting that Ansdell is a co-captain of the boys varsity team, qualified for the WIAA state tournament both last year and again this season, and assists in leading the Hawk summer tennis camps.

“(Jeremy) is one of the best players to come through the MTHS tennis program in the last ten years,” Ramirez said. “He is a good leader as well as one of the easier players to coach. Jeremy is always working hard and asking questions and will to learn new shots to improve his game.”

“Jeremy is very competitive but he never forgets to be a good sportsman,” Ramirez added.
