
In preparation for a big mid-season meet on April 12, the Mountlake Terrace boys and girls track teams honed their skills against undermanned Marysville-Pilchuck, overwhelming the Tomahawks in a dual meet in Marysville on Thursday, April 3. The Hawk boys defeated M-P 331-258, while the MTHS girls picked up a 276-225 victory over the Tomahawks.
A number of Hawks earned wins in two events each; for the boys, senior Jack Pearce placed first in both the 1600 meters and the 3200 meters, senior Greg Bowman won both the 400 meters and the high jump, and sophomore Riley Morrin earned the top spot in both the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles.
On the girls side, freshman Katherine Gustafson grabbed first place finishes in both the 800 meters and the 1600 meters, junior McKenna Hunt took home top prize in both the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles, sophomore Hailee Malins won both the discus and the shot put, and junior Alisha Clingan placed first in both the javelin and the high jump.
Other MTHS winners on Thursday were senior Nathan Sparks in the boys 800 meters, senior Courtney Hammer in the girls 400 meters and freshman Sophia Nelson in the girls 3200 meters.

The Hawks travel to Tacoma on Saturday, April 12, for the Lincoln Invitational, a big meet expected to draw student-athletes from more than 40 high schools. The Lincoln Bowl is located at 701 South 37th St. in Tacoma; spectator admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students with a valid ASB card.
