Three Mountlake Terrace High School student musicians were selected to take part in the 2015 NAfME All-Northwest Honors Bands performances earlier this month in Spokane.

Ryan Leppich (drums) and Joe Walrath (Baritone saxophone) were selected to play with the All-Northwest Jazz Band, while Molly Taylor (clarinet) was chosen for the All-Northwest Concert Band.

Leppich, Walrath and Taylor were among 7,600 students from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska who submitted video auditions for the honors bands.

“Knowing how many students turned in auditions — from six states — well, that speaks volumes,” said MTHS Music Boosters spokesperson Sherrill Leppich.

The honors bands concerts were performed over the Feb. 14-15 weekend as part of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Northwest Division Conference at the Spokane Convention Center.
