Work to install a new sound system in the Mountlake Terrace High School Theater has been completed earlier than expected and theater staff are now beginning to implement it for a variety of performances.
“I believe they have fired it up and are figuring out all the bells and whistles on this new system,” said MTHS Principal Greg Schwab.
The new system got its first big test on Nov. 7 during a MTHS Music Department concert.
“We are very pleased that our district’s highest-capacity seating theater, and well used by the community at large, is receiving a much needed replacement of its sound system,” said Edmonds School District Community Relations Manager DJ Jakala. The theater seats 410 and is utilized for stage productions, concerts, ballet recitals and educational and informational meetings by schools and groups from throughout the area.
The $185,000 project was completed by Morgan Sound of Lynnwood and is being paid for with funds from the district’s Facility and Operations budget, the 2004 voter-approved Technology/Capital Levy, and income collected from rentals of the facility.
