The Mountlake Terrace High School football team faces one of their toughest challenges of the season as they take on Edmonds-Woodway (1-0) Friday at 5 p.m. at Edmonds Stadium. The Warriors are currently ranked 7th in the Seattle Times 4A state football rankings.
The Hawks (0-1) will try to build upon the positives they showed in their loss to Stanwood on Aug. 31. Junior running back Devante Downs rushed for 108 yards and the defense make some big plays when needed.
“For the most part the players played hard; we just need to become more consistent,” Coach Tony Umayan said of the squad’s effort last week. “The offense did some nice things moving the ball, but couldn’t finish the drives the way we would like to. The defense played a solid game but still has some areas that need to improve.”
The Hawk defense will be tested by a Edmonds-Woodway team that racked up 42 points, 35 in the first half alone, in their win last week over Everett.
The Hawk-Warrior football game will be broadcast live on MLTnews.com beginning at 4:50 p.m.
