You may have noticed the City’s street sweeper running at what might seem like unusual hours.
The month of November is the peak season for leaf drop. This, in combination with the expected very wet fall/winter, can cause havoc on the City’s storm drainage system. Leaves and other debris can clog storm drains and cause flooding.
Because of this potentially hazardous combination, the City has decided to run their street sweeper overtime for the next several weeks while trees are losing most of their leaves.
The street sweeper will be operated on 2 shifts, 7 AM to 3:30 PM and 3:30 PM to Midnight. The goal of this second shift is to maximize utilization of the one street sweeper and clean up leaf litter and other debris before it enters into and clogs the storm drainage system.
