State Rep. Luis Moscoso announced Thursday he will run for State Senate, one day after Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe announced she will not seek re-election. McAuliffe has endorsed Moscoso for the position.

“I thank Senator McAuliffe for her years of dedicated public service and her expression of confidence in me to continue that legacy”, Moscoso said in a statement. “She has made a real difference in many lives. In that spirit I announce my candidacy for State Senate.”

Moscoso currently serves as a representative of the first legislative district, which includes most of Mountlake Terrace, as well as all of Bothell and Brier. He has represented the district since 2010. He focuses on issued including transportation, education and diversity.

    1. So has Guy Palumbo, who has been planning a run for some months now and has raised nearly $50,000, including substantial contributions from the (Amazon) Bezos family. Palumbo is a Snohomish County Planning Commissioner.
