State 3A tennis: MTHS double team finishes 6th

MTHSHawks logoAfter picking up two wins on the first day of the state high school tennis tournament, the Mountlake Terrace doubles’ team of Lorraine Allison and Tina Liu succumbed to a pair of strong teams on Saturday to end their run at state.

Despite two losses on the second day of the tourney, Allison and Liu placed sixth in the WIAA 3A Girls Tennis Doubles Championship, and earned an eleventh place team finish for MTHS.

In their first match on Saturday, Allison and Liu couldn’t keep up with the Mercer Island High School pair of Caroline Dillion and Caroline Hamilton, losing 6-1, 6-1. Allison and Liu then fell to Isabelle Long and Melissa Long on Interlake High School 6-0, 6-7, 6-4 in their final match of the weekend.

Gabriella Venditti and Lydia Venditti of Mercer Island High School went on to claim the 3A girls doubles title; Mercer Island won the 3A girls tennis team state championship.
