Helping the Hawks pick up some victories on the soccer pitch this season is certainly important for senior goalkeeper Aiden Murray, but it may not be his top focus.

“Personally I just want to enjoy my last year playing soccer and get shutouts,” Murray admitted.

The Terrace boys soccer team opens its season on Saturday, March 16, against Sammamish in the Kingco/Wesco Showcase at Edmonds Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m. The match is the first of 16 in the 2013 campaign for the Hawks.

Although this is a rebuilding year for the Terrace soccer team, Murray likes what his is seeing in his squad so far this season. “I’m feeling very confident in our younger players to really grow as teammates this season,” Murray said. “During practice we work hard and are looking strong mentally and physically.”

Players to watch for Terrace this year will be Chris Mitalas, an All-Wesco first-team honoree from 2012, in addition to Alec Somers and Wesson Narkour, Murray said.

The Kingco/Wesco Showcase features four matches at Edmonds Stadium on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. with Meadowdale versus Eastlake.
