Doug has been involved in the Mountlake Terrace community through serving on the Police Advisory Board for two years, he am currently serving as a city planner on the City Planning Commission, and has been a baseball coach in the MTYAA association, as well as a sponsor of the Terrace-Brier Soccer Association.
Doug and his wife of 22 years bought their first home in Mountlake Terrace seven years ago and live there with their two children. Doug earned a BA degree in communication and a K-8 teaching certificate from Seattle Pacific University in 1991 and a Masters of Science Degree from Walden University in 2007. Doug has been teaching middle school math for 15 years and is currently teaching at MeadowDale Middle School in the Edmonds School District. He is the chairman of the math department and serves on a math leadership team for the district. He also serves as chairman of the Leadership Council at the Lakeview Free Methodist Church where his wife and family have attended for the past 20 years.
Doug says he is running for city council position #3 in an effort to effect change as the city carries out its comprehensive plan. He desires to see Mountlake Terrace become a vibrant and sustainable city in the new millennium with a goal of balancing the small town feeling with the ever changing opportunities offered to the city.
