Sound Transit is hosting a community drop-in session to share information about the preferred alternative selected by its board for the Lynnwood Link Extension of light rail service scheduled to open for service in 2023. The event is slated for Thursday, June 26, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300-58th Ave. W.
The Lynnwood Link Extension will offer 8.5 miles of light rail service along the I-5 corridor from Northgate to the Lynnwood Transit Center/Park and Ride at 20100-48th Avenue West. The preferred alternative of the plan will offer between four to six stations, including one at the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center at I-5 and 236th Street Southwest and a possible station at I-5 and 220th Street Southwest.
Thursday’s drop-in session will have various Sound Transit staff members on hand to share preliminary information about the link’s route, station locations and interests of property owner and future commuters’ interests.
A computerized animation video of the preferred alternative for the Lynnwood Link Extension can be viewed here.
The Sound Transit Board of Directors identified the preferred route and station alternatives in November 2013. A final definition of route and station locations will be made following an environmental review that is expected to be completed next year. Construction on the light rail track and stations is scheduled to begin in 2018.
