Mountlake Terrace High School sophomore Sammy Ruiz has been named a Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) Athlete of the Week for her performance on the Hawk softball team during March 21-26.
During the week, Ruiz went 8-for-9 at the plate with three home runs and a double, tallied nine RBI’s and scored seven runs in Terrace’s three games.
Ruiz is the only Hawk to earn the state-wide recognition so far this school year. She joins Lynnwood’s Mikayla Pivec, Malia Pivec and Edmonds-Woodway’s Missy Peterson as the only Edmonds School District high school athletes to be awarded the honor this school year.
