The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission is presenting the Sonja Lang Photography Exhibit for the month of April at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W.

Sonya Lang’s images have won many awards at fairs, photo clubs, Photographic Society of America, and art shows in the Pacific Northwest.

Lang grew up between Woodland Park Zoo and Green Lake in Seattle, which gave her plenty of opportunity to learn about animals, nature and the busy city. She had a very early love of imagery, which paired perfectly with the camera.

Lang used her mother’s Instamatic from about the age of 10 until her mother gave her an SLR at the age of 16. She began exploring the world in shapes, light, perspective and pretty much photographed anything including her three much younger siblings.

Landscape, nature and portraiture (both animals and people), are some of her favorites to photograph. She still spends countless hours at the zoo, traveling when time allows and learning from fellow photographers.

The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission oversees the library exhibits as part of its mission to promote cultural events in the community.

The show runs through April 30 at the Mountlake Terrace Library, Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m.
