mltnews

Local public or nonprofit agencies who have projects that will develop or promote tourism in Snohomish County are encouraged to apply for 2015 Tourism Assistance Program funding.

Funds may be used for out-of-county marketing and promotion of events that draw tourists to stay overnight in the county, and may otherwise be used only if projects strongly align with the Snohomish County Strategic Tourism Plan. Historically, individual project allocations averaged about $10,000.

Money is awarded from revenue collected annually from hotel and motel room rentals in Snohomish County.

The Snohomish County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee will review applications and make recommendations to the Snohomish County Executive and County Council for final approval. Funds will be available beginning in January 2015 to competitive applicants who can complete their proposed projects by Dec. 15, 2015.

Details of eligibility and other program requirements are included in the application package, which must be filled out and returned to the Snohomish County’s Office of Economic Development by 5 p.m.,Monday, Oct. 13. Applications received after that time and date will not be considered.
