Snohomish County Fire District 1 calls: Aug. 27-Sept. 2

Fire District 1 logoSnohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 690 calls Aug. 27 through Sept 2: 349 emergency medical aid calls, 43 motor vehicle collisions, 77 fires, 136 service calls, 10 natural gas leaks and 75 automatic fire alarms.

Aug. 27

COLLISION: At 6:19 p.m., a car struck a motorcycle at 9th Avenue W and Main Street in Edmonds. Firefighters transported the injured motorcyclist to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION: At 10:01 p.m., a rollover collision was reported in the median on northbound I-5 at 164th Street SW. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Mill Creek Emergency Room.

Aug. 28

COLLISION: At 12:18 p.m., a two-car collision was reported at 164th Street SW and 25th Avenue W in north of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

HOUSE FIRE: At 3:08 p.m., a house fire was reported in the 23000 block of 29th Avenue W in Brier. Three adults and a toddler safely exited the home. The back of the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. One of the residents was treated at the scene for a minor burn. Damage is estimated at $400,000.

Aug. 29

STORM RELATED:  Firefighters responded to more than 150 calls related to the windstorm the swept through the area.

COLLISION: At 2:45 a.m., in the 9600 block of Firdale Avenue in Edmonds, a car spun out and struck a tree. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION: At 1:04 p.m., firefighters responded when a tree fell across the road and landed on moving cars just south of Fred Meyer at 172nd Street SW and Alderwood Mall Parkway. No one was injured.

COLLISION: At 2:03 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a tree that fell onto northbound I-5 near the 44th Street W ramp and struck several cars. All lanes except for the HOV lane were blocked, but no one was injured.

COLLISION: At 5:33 p.m., a collision was reported in the 21900 block of Highway 99 in Edmonds. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION: At 5:33 p.m., a T-bone, two-car collision was reported at Admiralty Way W and Airport Road south of Everett.  Firefighters transported one patient to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

COLLISION: At 6:00 p.m., a hit-and-run collision was reported at Airport Road and Highway 99 south of Everett.  Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION:  At 9:43 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision at 164th Street SW and Highway 99 north of Lynnwood. Two people were injured.  Both were taken to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

Aug. 30

STORM RELATED: Firefighters responded to more than 40 calls related to the windstorm the swept through the area.

HOUSE FIRE: At 12:05 p.m., firefighters responded to a house fire in the 8200 block of 184th Street SW in Edmonds. Two residents were home when the fire broke out. One resident tried to fight the fire with a garden hose and was exposed to heavy smoke. He was transported by medics to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital, where he was treated and released. Damage was estimated at $450,000. Investigators believe the fire started when a portable generator came in contact with combustible materials on the north end of the house.

COLLISION: At 8:44 p.m., a car struck a motorcycle at 148th Street SW and Highway 99 in Lynnwood. Firefighters transported the injured motorcyclist to Harborview Medical Center.

Sept. 1

TOWNHOUSE FIRE:  At 6:08 p.m., a fire was reported in a townhouse complex in the 13700 block of 26th Place W north of Lynnwood.  The fire started in the clothes dryer and was contained to the unit involved. Three cats died in the fire. Damage was estimated at $85,000
