For dozens of children from troubled homes in the area, the Lynnwood Target store become the place to forget about difficult times and instead find a little joy, all thanks to the Cheeseburger Babies Foundation “Shop with a Cop” event that took place on Wednesday.
More than 100 kids tore through the aisles of Target in search of that perfect present for themselves. Playing the part of their personal shopping assistants were police officers from Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Edmonds, Bothell and Fife, firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 1, army personnel from three local units, and the Treasure Island Pirates. A total of 46 in uniform participated, including Hunter, the Mountlake Terrace Police Department canine officer, and Santa Claus.
Footing the bill for all the merchandise purchased was the Cheeseburger Babies Foundation, a charitable group headed up by Mountlake Terrace City Councilmember and Red Onion Burgers owner Seaun Richards.
Donations to the Cheeseburger Babies Foundation can be made at P.O. Box 650, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043.
