While attendees walked the Red Carpet and posed in front of the signature wall for the paparazzi Friday night, celebrity mascots were on hand including those from Frontier Communications, Red Onion Burgers, Romio’s Pizza, Double DD Meats and Espresso Break.

Friday night’s Sip’s, Sweets and Appetizer RED CARPET Event to benefit SHOP with a COP and First Responders and Cheeseburger Babies Foundation raised more money than expected, according to Seaun Richards, president of Cheeseburger Babies Foundation. “We were hoping to raise $5,000. With the help of our major sponsor Frontier Communications and all of our community partners and volunteers, we surpassed those numbers,” Richards said.

The event was held at the Forest Crest Athletic Club, where Big E Brewery provided the Sips and Red Onion Burgers provided the Sweets and Appetizers. Local businesses, community neighbors and Red Onion Burgers employees donated silent auction items. Other items include a romantic getaway to Suncadia Resort, rounds of golf at the Nile Country Club and an extended stay at Embassy Suites.

Live music was provided by 44th Street Band and guest speakers included Mountlake Terrace Police Chief Greg Wilson, City Manager Arlene Fisher and City Councilmember Rick Ryan.

This will be the sixth year that Cheeseburger Babies Foundation has partnered with the Mountlake Terrace Police Department and the Edmonds School District to take 100 deserving kids to SHOP with a COP and first responders. All children receive a gift card and more so they can shop for Christmas gifts for themselves and family members.

“We are so grateful to all that volunteer their time and dedication,” Richards said. “But the best moment of this event is when the kids come around the corner and they see all of the cops, firemen, military and so many more waiting for each and every one of them.”
