Monday, you can see paintings by Sharon Grader on display at the Mountlake Terrace Library.

Sharon Grader worked as a graphic designer for more than 30 years, and graphic design is the foundation for her work. In 2013, Grader discovered encaustic paint, which is a wax-based paint, and fell in love with it.

“I enjoy exploring and experimenting with my art,” Grader said. “I am fascinated with the creative process and the constant wonder that surprises me every day.”

Grader works with found objects, dying silk, rusting paper and encaustic monoprinting. She also has experience using watercolors, oils and pastels.

Grader has exhibited her work in local shows such as the Edmonds Art Festival and Arts of the Terrace. She is currently the First Vice President of the Edmonds Arts Festival Executive Board and Director of Artist Booths.

The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission oversees the library exhibits as part of its mission to promote cultural events in the community.
