I am sure you have all heard about the Seattle Police officer that was killed on October 31st. Though this doesn’t directly relate to Mountlake Terrace, this killing effects the entire region. Our mayor, Jerry Smith worked for the Seattle Police Department for 18 years and was classmates with the father of the slain officer, Timothy Brenton. At the beginning of the City Council meeting on Monday, Mayor Smith led the council in a moment of silence for the fallen officer and it was brought up several other times in the meeting.
Seattle Police have released photos taken from police cruiser cameras that show a vehicle of interest, possibly the suspects vehicle. Please take a look at Capitol Hill Seattle’s post covering the statement/photos from SPD to see if you may have any information.
There is also a procession this morning as well as a memorial at Key Arena that is open to the public. If you would like to help the officer Tim Brenton’s family you can donate at any Bank of America.
