There will be plenty of sea creatures, pirates and nautical fun on Wednesday, Aug. 14 as the 12th Annual SeaScare event sets sail in the heart of Brier. Activities begin at 5:30 p.m.; the parade is set to cast off at 7 p.m., with live music, classic car and fire truck display, and a pie eating contest scheduled for afterwards.
The Brier Realty Porch Light parade will feature a wide variety of entries — cars, bands, community groups — but will be highlighted by the silly creativity of Brier residents and the theme of the sea. Homeowners along the parade route are encouraged to get into the fun by adorning front yards and porches with lights and decorations. The parade route is down Brier Road from the Brier Library (about 232nd Street Southwest) to 238th Street Southwest.
Online registration for parade entries continues on Monday and Tuesday, with in-person entries accepted right up to the start of the parade at 7 p.m. To register online click https://seascare.com/paraderegistration.htm.
SeaScare is put on by the City of Brier Park Board and sponsored this year by Brier Realty, Brier Pizza, Brier Grocery, Jason’s Java, Adam Gregorich for Mayor, Academy Roofing, Nellie’s Thistle, QFC, Fitness 19, Ringers Pub & Grill, Seattle Tae Kwon Do, Ace Hardware, Pet Adventure, Sound Community Bank, BowWow Fun Towne, Washington Dance Club, Teeter Tots Mentessorie, Dapper Swan, Tupperware, Big E Ales and Sno-Isle Libraries.
