The Foundation for Edmonds Public Schools 5K run/walk fundraiser last Saturday grossed $72,000 and drew a record-breaking 1,600 runners, with 31 of 33 Edmonds School District Schools participating, according to Foundation Executive Director Deborah Anderson.

Ninety percent of those participating — 1,471 — came from district schools, with 23 schools with 20 or more registered participants, Anderson said. Those schools with 20 or more participants qualify to earn a percentage of event proceeds, including nine of the district’s 13 Title I schools (schools with more than 50 percent of students receiving free/reduced cost lunch).
“With this event, 70 percent of our Title I schools will receive proceeds,” Anderson said.
Anderson reminds race participants that if they shop at the Lynnwood Barnes & Noble or dine at the Spaghetti Factory this week, a percentage of sales will be donated to the Foundation. Just show your Celebrate Schools 5K bib voucher.
