April Nowak has announced that she does not intend to seek election to her Director District 4 seat on the Edmonds School District Board of Directors.

The election for the four-year term is in November 2015 with interested candidates required to file with Snohomish County in May.

“I’ve enjoyed my time serving the families of the Edmonds School District,” said Nowak, who was appointed to the Board of Directors in spring 2014 after Susan Phillips resigned to care for her husband who was battling cancer.

Superintendent Nick Brossoit thanks Director Nowak. “I am happy that positive changes in her personal life necessitate her not running for election to the seat, but saddened because we have enjoyed the perspective and contributions she has made and is making on the Board.”

The filing deadline with Snohomish County Elections for positions up for re-election in November 2015 is May 11-15. Those interested in filing for this open seat must reside in Director District No. 4. To determine whether a community member resides within Director District No. 4, there are several options:

In addition to Director District 4 position up for re-election, Director Districts 3 and 5 four-year terms are also on the ballot. They are held by Directors Gary Noble and Diana White, respectively. Director District 1 is currently held by Kory DeMun. Director DeMun is not seeking re-election to his seat.
