Updated at 8:40 a.m. with additional details.

A two-alarm fire at Mount Zion Lutheran Church — located at 21428-44th Ave. W. — had 44th Avenue West closed until about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

According to Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes, the fire was reported around 3:25 a.m., with heavy flames showing when firefighters arrived. One Lynnwood firefighter sustained minor injuries from falling debris, and was taken to a hospital for evaluation as a precaution, Hynes said.

Mountlake Terrace High School, located about a block away, cancelled all zero-period classes as they thought students and staff might be delayed in getting to the school Wednesday.

The fire heavily damaged two large meeting rooms, and there is no word yet on a cause or a dollar loss. Investigators from Fire District 1 and the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office were on the scene, and we’ll provide more details when they become available.
