Scene in Mountlake Terrace: Sunny summer Sunday

Ballinger Park was a popular place for adults and kids alike on Sunday. (Photo by Dale Jeremiah)
  1. Yes, the swimming park at Lake Ballinger is very popular and colorful. My wife and I live across the street in a condo and have a perfect view of the long dock and kid’s playground, always well used in nice weather.
We attended a planning meeting in the MLT municipal building some time back, thinking that someone might have funds to make some improvements in the beach. Not to be. They had money to convert the larger area of the old golf course into a nature park of some kind; moving the stream, putting in an observation deck, and such. That didn’t come to much. They had no interest in improving the swimming area, by far the most used by the populous, which needs help. Ducks and geese leave droppings everywhere, it is not sanitary. How about putting some sand on the beach at a minimum, and employ a gamekeeper to shepherd the animals. The common people who enjoy the park could use a voice.
