Stormwater Program Manager Laura Reed explained why it’s important not to put paint, soap and other chemicals in the city’d storm drains.
Once the drains were cleared, markers were added that discourage littering near them.
This group cleared storm drains near the heart of the Town Center.
Boy Scout Troop 60 spent Saturday volunteering to help Mountlake Terrace City staff clear the city’s storm drains.
More than a dozen volunteers spent the morning learning about stormwater runoff and how it affects the environment. The scouts then helped city staff clean the storm drains around the city, including near the Town Center and Recreation Pavilion.
