Snohomish County PUD launched an outage map for the first time Friday. It shows scattered outages in some parts of Mountlake Terrace and Brier.
Yellow zones on the map indicate between one and 500 customers are without power in that area. Orange regions show between 501 and 1,500 customers are in the dark. No outages have been reported in the green areas.
The map will be updated every two hours.
PUD spokesman Neil Neroutsos says this is a temporary outage map that will only be used during “declared major storms” which result in widespread outages.
However, a more robust outage management system is planned to launch later this year.
About 5,000 PUD customers are without power Friday morning. East county was one of the hardest hit areas, Neroutsos said, but he could not give a concrete number of affected customers in Mountlake Terrace or Brier.
Most customers are expected to have their power restored by Friday night.
