Saturday golf tournament at Ballinger Lake to raise money for skin cancer awareness

Hardy Golf LLC, which operates the Ballinger Lake Golf Course, is hosting the 6th Annual Sue Gifford Melanoma Memorial Golf Tournament this Saturday, May 19. This event is held in honor of Sue Gifford, mother of Carol Hardy, who co-owns Hardy Golf along with her husband, PGA Pro Tyrone Hardy.

Sue Gifford passed away from metastatic melanoma, and Carol and Tyrone Hardy work tirelessly to raise awareness of the effects of skin cancer and prevention. A portion of the proceeds are donated to the American Cancer Society and are specifically earmarked for skin cancer/melanoma.

The tournament is an 18-hole, four-person scramble, and walk-in entries will be accepted, Carol Hardy said. The entry fee is $60 per person and includes continental breakfast, lunch, tee prizes and golf. Check-in begins at 7 a.m.
