Resident with gun chases away burglers

MLT police shieldA Mountlake Terrace man with a gun confronted two suspected burglars, who subsequently fled the scene, according to Mountlake Terrace Police.

The incident took place at 2:44 p.m., Jan 14, when police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home in the 22200 block of 48th Ave. W. Neighbors, who live across the street from the victim’s home, witnessed two men fleeing from the home and observed the resident standing in the doorframe holding a firearm.

The suspects fled in a four-door silver SUV. Brier and Lynnwood Police and Snohomish County Sheriff departments assisted with an area check but the suspects were not located. No plate was obtained.

Police interviewed the victim, who told them that the house had been burglarized two weeks earlier. The man stated that he heard the door being kicked in and grabbed his pistol. He pointed it at the suspects and they immediately fled. No shots were fired.

The suspects were described as a heavy-set male in his late 20s and a thin male also in his late 20s. Both were wearing grey hooded sweatshirts. Mountlake Terrace Police Detectives are investigating.
