The Nile Shriners Golf & Country Club in Mountlake Terrace will host the 30th Annual Northwest Dance Extravaganza this Saturday, May 17, an event that features a mix of ballroom dance competitions for kids, youth and adults, and an evening of dinner, socializing and dance performances.
“It’s a full day event,” explained show organizer Lynn Offutt. “The daytime session is when all the competitions are held. The evening is dinner, social dancing and show demonstrations and exhibitions by featured artists.”
Tickets for the event are $15 for the morning and afternoon competitions, $50 for the evening session of music and dance performances, and $95-$115 for the evening session that includes a dinner and dinner show.
The featured dance exhibition of the evening session will be by professional dancers and choreographers Natasha Zrazhevskaya and Umario Diallo. The local pair team up for performances and competitions nationwide, most recently at the U.S. National Amateur Dancesport Championships in Baltimore last March. You can see one of the dances they will be performing in the YouTube segment above.
Other exhibitions scheduled for the evening session include Latin dances and an Argentine tango trio.
