Reminder: Free day of family arts fun at Kidstock Jan. 9


Kidstock-2015-web-graphicKidstock! is the free, annual family event at Edmonds Center for the Arts that features musical performances, theatre, arts education workshops, and activities for kids from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9.

As the cornerstone of ECA’s Family Series, Kidstock! strives through theatre, music and interdisciplinary arts performances to engage children from a young age in diverse and exciting arts experiences.

The Kidstock! 2016 Main Stage will feature returning favorites that include nationally-acclaimed trio Recess Monkey; two-time Guinness World Record holder Alex Zerbe; and Mexican folkloric dance group Bailadores de Bronce. Rene Bibaud, five-time world champion, former ESPN commentator, and artist and coach of the renowned Cirque du Soleil, will take the Kidstock! stage for the first time with her Ropeworks Interactive Jump Rope Show.

Kidstock! will also feature an ASL-interpreted performance of Myth Understandings by celebrated troupe theater simple; and a special guest appearance by Godfrey Daniels, the Seattle-based circus artist described as “a Shel Silverstein poem brought to life.”

Additional Kidstock! 2016 programs will include an intergenerational art workshop with Silver Kite Community Arts, an all-ages hula lesson with the Nana I Ke Kumu Pono Foundation, bouncy houses, and more!
