Red Onion Burgers’ donations total $100,000

Red Onion Burgers logoRed Onion Burgers’ Dining for Dollars program hit a milestone last week by writing a check for $1,200 to the North Queens Drill Team. This check put the program over $100,000 in donations to the community in the last four years.

Every Tuesday from 5 – 8 p.m., Red Onion Burgers contributes 20 percent of its sales, 50 percent of its credit card tips and 100 percent of its cash tips to local organizations that include schools, churches, clubs and more. Red Onion Burgers employees give up their tips and are happy to participate. Employees feel a sense of community pride by giving back to a community that supports them.

Seaun Richards, owner of Red Onion Burgers said, “When I was approached to do this program, it was a no-brainer. This program gives back to our community. We have spent more money on advertising dollars and have gotten a lot less response. Every Tuesday we get a handful of people that say, ‘Thank You for doing this and we did not know you were here. We will be back'”

Dining for Dollars is usually booked about six months in advance and requires a minimum of six volunteers. Checks written vary on the participation level of the organization involved. Red Onion Burgers encourages each organization to reach out to its base, press releases, raffle drawings, and more creative ideas. The average check written is about $500.

In 2012 Red Onion Burgers experienced a fire that destroyed its business. With the help of insurance and perseverance Red Onion Burgers rebuilt and continued the Dining for Dollars program. Extended Dining for Dollars program includes added dates to benefit Taulaswood Apartment Fire, Kelly Baker Watson Cancer Fund, Oso Mudslide, Oso Fire Chief fund and Mount Zion Church Fire.

Red Onion Burgers is located at 21005 44th Ave. W. in Mountlake Terrace. The first available date to book an event is February 10, 2015. If you would like to book an event please check out: , email at [email protected] or call Seaun Richards at 425-218-5996.
