Mountlake Terrace and Brier benefited greatly from the work of Eagle Scout candidates in 2013 as a number of scouts volunteered in city parks as part of their effort to achieve the highest ranking in the Boy Scouts of America.

Scout Ray Baldwin, from Troop 304, received his Eagle Scout award on Jan. 25 at a National Eagle Scout Court of Honor hosted by VFW Post 1040 and held at the Expedition Christian Church in Mountlake Terrace. For his community service, Baldwin created and installed a new monument at Firefighters Memorial Park.

Other scouts who volunteered in area parks in 2013 were Erik Greif, Nathan Morgan and Derek DeLizo. City officials note that more projects by Eagle Scout candidates are in the work for 2014.
