Stop by the REI at Alderwood Mall between 10 a.m. and noon or Alderwood Mall center court from 1-3 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 29, to register for the Oct. 13 Celebrate Schools 5k Run/Walk (formerly the Street Strut), supporting the Edmonds Public Schools Foundation. Registrants are automatically entered in a drawing to win a free Kindle Fire (must be present to win).
If you can’t make it this Saturday, you can register online here.
The 5k walk/run is pet and stroller friendly, and $500 goes to the school with the most participants. There are also awards for top female and male runners by age category.
Kids can enjoy a children’s fun run, visit a children’s entertainment tent with art and activities tables and games, meet team mascots and enjoy delicious treats from the Umpqua popsicle truck.
Following the run there will be a rally in the mall and public schools supporters are invited to enjoy robotics demonstrations, listen to performances by award-winning high school musicians, be a sleuth and guess notable historical figures, and enter for a chance to win a $250 gift card to shop at Alderwood Mall.
Event sponsors include the Edmonds Public Schools Foundation, Alderwood Mall, Edmonds School District, Comcast, Experience Momentum, Journal Magazine, Penny Berglund Orthodontics Exclusively, REI, Swedish Edmonds, Umpqua Bank, Walgreens and Wholefoods Market Lynnwood.
Event proceeds will be returned to participating teachers and students in the form of classroom grants.
